For the most part we support the ground teams by looking over the trees. we can also cover large amounts of search areas in shorter amounts of time. we also fly the Low Altitude High Speed Training Areas and look for cell phone towers that are not on the charts and identify them for the military so that they can update their charts (aka low level route surveys) we also find ELT's from the air

we've actually been on fire watch for over a month I got called up for stand by but nothing active (for me) as of yet. Originally, we were flying south of tulsa east of OKC area just marking fire lines to check the progression of the burn lines. we stopped for a week when the weather snowed then I guess they just started up again.
