On your person: Pen and Paper, CAPID/101/SQTR's/any other relevant info, watch, reflective vest, Signal mirror (AOL cd's work too) a whistle, utilityknife or multitool *BLADE WILL BE NO LONGER THAN 6 IN AND MUST FOLD SHUT ie no sheath knives.
Day Pack/24 hour pack has 3 parts
Part 1 First aid kit: Antiseptics wipes, ointments, bandaids, mole skin, roller bandage, safety pins x2, gauze pads, triangular bandage, firstaid tape, personal meds (please tells us), exam gloves.
Part 2 Survival Kit : Duct Tape 5-10 feet (may be wrapped on a plastic eating utensil for space), leaf bag, water proof matches w/container, glowsticks (green is for trainees, red is usually the medic, blue or yellow is usually the team leader), 50' of rope (550 para cord is ideal)
Part 3 SAR Kit : change of Socks (thick boot socks or hicking socks), flagging tape, flashlight with red or blue color filters, spare flashlight or penlight, insect repellent, sunscreen (spf 30-45 ideal), leather work gloves or tactical gloves, poncho (used for rain and also for shelters), compass (lensatic or orienteering/lensatic preferred)
last but most important, water: at least 2 canteens worth. 1 canteen = 1 quart =32 oz I dont care if you have waterbottles, milk jugs, bota bags, canteens, or camelbacks so long as you have some water and a way to carry it.
The above is a list for your 24 hour gear you dont need all of it for the FTX but bring what you got and we will teach you to use it. If the cadet staff can distribute this info to members that are not on SARTALK but are going the ESO would greatly appreciate it
