Please don't bore me with Top Gun. It's a great movie, but it seems like that is everybody's favorite. I can't think of just one, so here are a few of my favorites in no particular order:
1. The Flying Tigers 2. Jet Pilot 3. The Last Chase 4. The Great Santini 5. The Right Stuff

flying tigers is a definite 1941 (reminds me of wyatt) airplane tora x3 midway the life of billy mitchell i dont really care for the Iron Eagle genre except it was basically a music video with f16's and pearl harbor was ok

Let's not forget Memphis Belle.
I like Pearl Harbor, but Ben Affleck/Matt Damon had run it's course by then and I was ready for other actors. I think Alec Baldwin made an exceptional Billy Mitchell.
There were two previously unreleased John Wayne movies recently released: Island in the Sky and The High and the Mighty.
Is Space Cowboys an airplane movie? What about Apollo 13?
Ooh!!! The Final Countdown! Two thumbs way up for that one.

I would be interested in test for the aerodynamics of a 1984 Winnebago but considering that space is a vacuum it really wouldn't matter

Space is a vacuum, but that Winnie was also able to fly inside the atmosphere of the planets in that movie. I bet the handling is very sluggish with the CG so far forward.

Whatever you guys are talking about All I can say is independence day was freaking rock and roll if not the best i mean come on lets hit the tires and light the fires big daddy, Stealth was pretty good. its not and airplane movie but i just went to see caves with a couple other people i will not mention to protect them but it was pretty goofy (I mean the only thing that didnt look real was the monsters - inside joke - ask bailey - )

If the young C/1Lt wants to see C/Capt he had better figure out what a "CG" is, and better know that space is a vacuum it's called aerospace it was on the mitchell and it snowballs as you get through the higher ranks
on a second note and I better hear this in a current event Congress just awarded the honorary rank of Major General posthumosly to Gen William "Billy" Mitchell I would like to hear this mentioned during one of our current events.

Ya i know this is an old post but i am bringing it up anyway. first off I hate the iron eagle movies they were in my opinion all pieces of crap and thats being nice. I have also realized I do not own a serious airplane movie at all. for the record i think spaceballs is very good and not to trash the Winnebago but nothing can beat mega maid for pure stupidity in that movie. but my all time favorite has to be the HUD tape from my incentive flight in 167 da bus

WHAT? Hot dogs do not fly, and they don't spout fire either. That is illogical, and makes me ANGRY!!
