I understand now thanks. And to Further on what Sammons said. The Guards of Honor meet Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. E/S people meet on Tuesday and are always on call. The thing that I think should be touched on is that a few people do all this stuff. (I do Honor Guard, and am always on call for ES missions. Along with keeping a steady job, finishing up high school, and going to and studying for college. And then theres the bear necessity of me going climbing once a week. LOL so Im happy to go do stuff we just have to schedule it when its not a very active week.

Heh, High School (Calculus sucks), Track, Football, CAP(Guard of Honor, E/S), Work (grass is growing yay), Flying, the bare climbing necessity that Batman stated. Life gets busy, and trying to have a social life on top of that (no CAP is not my social life). It is nice to see some initiative though. Haven't seen that in a while, but more and more is slowly appearing in the squadron. When is there not an active week?

The first two have already been mentioned, discussed and are in the works. Pensacola is not realistic. There are lots of things that are within 1/2 day drive that we are working on doing. Anything farther away than that is not practical.

Except I know we have a few cadets who go to school year round ( college ). And also lots of families go on vacation so We would of had to start planning a while back for a 24 hr round trip.

If I'm going to drive 12 hours to do something, I am not going to turn around and come home immediately following. If it's a 12 hour drive it is a minimum 3 day trip. One day to drive, one day to see the attractions, and one day to drive home. That is a bare minimum. Anything less is asking for trouble. IF we did a trip like this we would have to charter a bus to make it worthwhile, which I am not opposed to. We have to have lots of time or lots of money and we have neither at this point.

BTW, I'm glad you are excited about activities, but there is a lot more to a CAP activity than loading up the van and driving off into the sunset. Lt. Sammons post above is dead on.

A longer-term solution to the need for more activity without overstressing our existing excellent leaders is to get more Seniors involved to spread the load. Unfortunately, it just takes time to get us to the place where we can lead. I like to see enthusiasm and hope the motivated cadets and seniors can be patient as we build our infrastructure to where it can support a wider variety of needs. Judging by Tuesday's turnout of seniors I would say we are getting there.

I think that senior involvment is paramount! It is good to see seniors and parents getting involved. I believe the focus should be though for this next year on retention(less on recruiting, we have to be able to work with what we've got before we can hope to improve others.) Getting those we have already up to speed and moving in the right direction and getting them everything they need to be successful.
If you want more activites summer is only 14 weeks long go to encampment for 7days (9 if your staff) after that you can still sign up for hawk mountain ranger school for two weeks in the end of july begininng of august.
From the 6th of june through the 15th of August we'll be doing on average about 2 color guards a week and they are on short notice usually less than 12 hours. After summer you are going to want some time away from CAP to go to the lake or visit your relatives or just screw off for summer.
From ES we are going through a bit of a slum however tornado season is starting and most of us have are overnight gear in our cars and we are on the edge of our seats rite now. Airshows are starting and I think we have one in april we are attending.
From experience trust me things will get busy
