Hello All,

A friend who just returned from duty in Iraq just informed me about a site where the service members upload videos they produced of their time in country. The videos are set to music (though not all are to my taste) and are free to view. the site is www.grouchymedia.com

what were those bombs in the first vid that the a- 10 droped and they blew up in mid air and then shot smaller ones to the ground?

cluster munitions you have some that will go off when they hit a target and others that have a altimeter that they will detonate like 15 feet off the ground (or just above the infantry's head) The actual bomb itself is just a container that splits open and releases the bomblets. One version of it (this is a personal favorite) uses the airflow over the guide fins (which are angled) to spin the bomb, the bomb releases its bomblets and they get strewn out over a larger distance

The A-10 although designed to destroy tanks has found itself a role as close infantry support that can rain different volumes of iron on the enemy infantry as cover for our own.

And some of the cluster munitions have an adjustable separation altitude. This allows you to somewhat control the size of the kill zone. If you are engaging a hard target you would want it to pop closer to the ground so that the charges are closer to the primary target when they explode. If you are engaging personnel you can spread them out further with a higher altitude of separation to take out more of the enemy.

My personal favorite is the wind corrected munitions. That however is a misnomer. the munition doesn't so much correct for the wind as much as each munition is programmed for certain targets. For example when you want to kill infantry when the bomb casing splits open the seeker head on each bomb-let looks for a man shaped object and the the little warhead fires its own little rocket and dives right for that target

My favorites are the ones that you drop in the middle of the area you want destroyed and they vaporize everything within 10 miles instantly.

LOL. I wish we could just go out and see some demo's of some of the stuff or get to shoot a couple LOL. That are narley video's. If you find anymore that make you want to kill those communist heathens be sure to post it.
