Here is the info I got from Capt. Thompson about the Cadet Conference:
When: 17-19 February
Where: Tinker AFB (same place as the past two years)
Cost: Right now we are saying $25-$30 at the door for the two lunches, the
banquet and administrative costs. (Previous years have been $20 with one less
meal and two fewer days; well worth it!) This could go down based on some
tweaking of minor details.
To answer your question of why we are making the event a little larger than
previous years:
1) So Cadets can arrive on Friday and get a good night’s rest and leave at
a decent hour on Sunday rather than waking up at 4am for a two hour drive,
sitting through learning ALL DAY and driving another two hours late that
evening. Bottom line: convenience.
2) Senior Members get a weekend conference, so why shouldn’t Cadets?
Here’s a skeleton of the plan:
- Friday evening is optional (again, this is more for convenience).
For those who make it our Friday, dinner will be on your own time and your own
dime. The will be an Honor Guard workshop beginning at 1700. The uniform will
be BDUs.
- Saturday and Sunday breakfast will be at the Dining Facility; bring
cash! Price varies because you pay for what you eat. If you’ve never been,
it’s really cheap for great grub!
- Saturday will be academics like the previous years with plenty of
guest speakers. Training will be per what Phase a Cadet is in. There will be
some similarities and some differences from last year’s classes. Uniform will
be BDUs.
- Saturday will be capped with a banquet (uniform will be Service
Dress).
- Sunday will have a capstone project and the weekend will end with a
cookout for Sunday lunch. Uniform will be blues.
