I have to say that the entire weekend was very impressive. There is no telling how many veterans went away feeling more appreciated for their great sacrifices ( I notice a number of them wiping tears away). And, families of fallen soldiers no doubt felt a sense of honor for their loved ones. I watched cadets in the middle of the night, by themselves with nobody watching but maybe one family member or CAP member, going through the precise Guard sequences flawlessly-often while they were so tired they were visibly shaky. You all completed an honorable duty. It is young men and women like you who will keep the Spirit of American Freedom alive in coming generations. Your example will affect many young people in coming years to consider the price of their freedom and to do something about it. For that you should feel a great sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. Mission accomplished. The Creed of the Sentinels Those Who Guard the Tomb of the Unknowns My dedication to this sacred duty Is total and wholehearted
In the responsibility bestowed on me Never will I falter
And with dignity and perseverance My standard will remain perfection.
Through the years of diligence and praise And the discomfort of the elements I will walk my tour in humble reverence To the best of my ability.
It is he who commands the respect I protect His bravery that made us so proud.
Surrounded by well meaning crowds by day Alone in the thoughtful peace of night
This soldier will in honored Glory rest Under my eternal vigilance.

This event cannot be witnessed anywhere else in the U.S, at any time, other than in Arlington National Cemetery . The cadets have performed the re-enactment annually every Memorial Day Weekend for over a decade to honor those who have borne the burden of our freedom with their own lives. The Honor Guard sentinels guard Floral Haven’s massive, full-scale replica of the tomb 24 hours per day, Saturday through Monday, in exacting detail and precision with an elaborate changing of the guard ceremony every thirty minutes. Taps is played periodically by a live bugler. Enhanced security guard forces and lighting provide a safe and inviting environment to view the non-stop activities of the sentinels. There is ample opportunity to take pictures and video. Floral Havens Cemetery is located in Broken Arrow , OK on 129th E. Ave. between 61st St. and 71st St . The basic sequence of the Changing of the Guard is shown here in photos. The outgoing guard walks his post while the Sergeant of the Guard inspects the incoming guard and his 14 lb. M1 rifle. Every detail of the ceremony is based on 21-count movements in honor of the 21 Gun Salute used to honor our fallen soldiers, sailors, and airmen. The Starbase Composite Squadron of the United States Air Force Auxiliary is the only unit in the nation in addition to the U.S. Army 3rd Infantry Regiment that is authorized to perform the Guarding of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Changing of the Guard ceremony. Its cadets have trained shoulder-to-shoulder with the 3rd Infantry sentinels in Arlington National Cemetery , West Virginia , who have guarded the Tomb of the Unknown in Arlington National Cemetery , every minute of every day since 1937. Jeff Leskowat, software engineer in the Operations and Technology Division, is an officer in the Civil Air Patrol and the father of three cadets, one of whom guards the tomb this weekend.
